And she's off!

Well, I've been pretty good with this whole "going to college thing"...until last night...with the thought of only 2 weeks left I had a major melt down and literally cried myself to sleep...thoughts of bringing Kenzie home from the hospital, her first day of school, her telling me about asking Jesus into her heart and asking Him to forgive her of ALL the terrible things she'd ever done (she was only 6...Haha!) remembering when she was baptized, her first overnight church camp, her first crush...her first dance lesson, first voice lesson, first solo at church...theater class at 3yrs old...her first skinned knee, her first broken heart...wow so much to digest, so much to process as each of those priceless memories played like a movie reel, one right after another...
My mind then transfered to an overwhelming number of questions... Have I done enough? Is she prepared? How badly have I screwed her up? (haha!) Was there enough teaching? enough scripture? enough love? enough forgiveness? Is she strong enough? Gracious enough? Humble enough? WHAT IN THE WORLD DO I NEED TO CRAM IN IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS?!!!! Hahaha...oh goodness...
The Holy Spirit gently reminded me, she's enough and more importantly HE'S ENOUGH...and my beautiful McKenzie knows that and THAT IS ENOUGH!!! So I will pray that I am confident in this in the coming weeks... and at that my thoughts then turned into this prayer... "That He who began a good work in you (McKenzie) will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Phil 1:6)
May I be able to hold on to that as I let her go....

Wow 5 YEARS since my last post!
I have to tell you, when I stopped blogging it wasn't because I had nothing to say, (no need for a sarcastic comment at this obvious statement...haha!) but rather I had nothing positive to contribute...let's just say 2008 was the start of my "dark period" as an artist would say...and because I had nothing nice to say at the time I chose to say nothing at all...I took that advice from the wise words of the great philosopher "Thumper!"
Of course my dark period didn't last 5 years but we sanguines get caught up with life and forget what isn't right in front of us!  ;)
So, here is the new intro to my blog! A lot has happened in these last few years the biggest being I am now the mother of not 1 but 2 teenage daughters!!!! They make up most of the things that fill up my life and that is why I started this blog in the first place. However, over the years I have had many people (including my daughters) ask me to write a book about parenting, not sure I have enough "wisdom" to fill a book...but maybe a little to impart here! Somehow others see something creative in how I mother these two awesome girls I've been blessed with! So, if I can keep from embarrassing them, I will share in the posts ahead small things that I have done from the time they were little to instill Christ, manners, not lying, appreciating each other, handling mean girls, relationships with boys and a few other lessons we've plowed through along our journey together.
I always want to do my best in how I treat and raise my girls, but I also want more than anything to do this "job" as unto the Lord. I want to impact future generations with parenting with purpose and on purpose. Nothing is little or unimportant...in almost every situation there is meaning and lessons to be gleaned and shown! Let's get started...again! ;)

Who knew?

So today was the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Geography Bee at our school. McKenzie really studied hard for it. In fact a couple of days ago she nervously announced while studying, "I don't know why I signed up for this... I should stick with the spelling bee!" I, (being the one who rarely ever studied for what I HAD to study for, much less extra study for no real reason,) said to her, "oh, please honey, just don't fret over it.... you'll just get up miss the 1st question and sit down, it's no big deal!!!" thinking the 1st question is the ONE you just didn't know and all the rest you did, what a waste of time to even study... (this, of course, is why my children will need therapy, and why I'm already saving for it!! lol) Well, she not only was so nervous when she got on stage I almost got sick.... but then she kept getting the answers right and advancing to each additional round.... the better she did the more stunned I was! I know she's smart... but I had no idea where these unbelievably difficult answers came from. She took 1st place! The cheers from her friends and her very proud mom and sister left her speechless and all smiles! I am so proud of her and she not only deserves it, but I will never doubt again! :)
Great Job my Sweet McKenzie!

The call of the wild!

I love this time of year ... the colors all changing, the warmer days following a few colder ones... I think knowing that more serious cold is around the corner, really helps you enjoy days like this one even more!!!

It was perfect riding weather! The four of us hopped on the Harley's and took off... McKenzie and Adaline love it! The neighborhood kids all stand around while we are gearing up... the girls are like little celebrities! They start smiling from ear to ear as soon as they hear the roar of the engines start up... they sing while we ride, make waves with their little arms in the wind, smile at the children staring in passing cars, and wave at the other bikers... it's already in their blood... but hey, who can blame them! :)

Come Home....

OK.... after 17 1/2 years I am still in love with my hubby! He has been out of town too many days the last 2 weeks and will be gone again for a few days next week! I just don't handle life well without him... nothing is as good. I don't eat very well, mac & cheese or soup for the girls gets dinner done. I don't sleep at all!!!! Problems seem to overwhelm me easier and get under my skin faster... life isn't even as funny without him laughing too! I'm not needy as far as taking out the trash, or taking care of the house things that he does when he's home... I'm pretty self sufficient when it comes to that... It's more of the best Friend, relationship, talk about your day, get things off your chest, have a good laugh at something that happened or blow steam if you want. He balances me... grounds me... drives me crazy sometimes because he tries to 'fix' stuff for me, but I know he cares and listens. His love in unconditional, and I know he'll never leave me!!! It's just amazing how much I have grown to need him every day!!

Which got me thinking... do I yearn for the Lord in this deep way when I miss a few days of my quiet time? Do I miss the relationship, the support, the unconditional love I receive when I'm upset , or mess up and need to tell someone... is that void yelling out at me all hours of the day and night...? I have to be honest and say "no" it doesn't always make me sick to go another day without Him... wow... how convicting... I think I need to work on my eternal "marriage". Oh to have that heartache when I have been gone from His presence... I think I need to come home!

Seeing HIS hand....

Isn't it amazing how when you really look at every situation you can "see" God's finger prints somewhere on it?

This evening, while working on homework with Adaline, McKenzie came running in the house in tears... she had fallin on the neighbors fence, which has nails sticking out all over it! At first glance at her thick hoodie I couldn't see the need for tears. However, knowing Kenz doesn't cry hardly ever, I peeled of her sweatshirt and the tshirt underneath had a substantial amount of blood. She had 3 rather deep gashes that were each about 4 or 5 inches long down her shoulder and back!!!! (looked like she'd been flogged) Needless to say... a trip to urgent care, and a tetanus shot later, we were dashing back home to eat and get to bed.

As I was rushing around trying to accomplish the 3 hour evening rituals in 30 minutes... I noticed her sweatshirt and bloody tshirt in the middle of the floor... picking them up I saw the reality of His provision... the huge holes torn in the shirt could have been her back. Had it not been for the hoodie and God's provision, we would still be at the ER getting quite a few stitches! Tears filled my eyes as I showed Kenz her shirt... she literally fell to her knees in gratitude to her savior and His hand on her! Her bedtime prayers were oh so precious tonight... as were mine!

NObama....

OK... I won't make a huge deal on the subject... everyone is so sick of the elections, enough already... I just ponder things sometimes....

Like, when did we, as a country, decide our commander of the Armed services need not have any experience at all? How did Clinton, after dodging the draft of the Vietnam war, and protesting the men in uniform that make our country what it is.... ever become President?

How is it possible that Obama, with no military experience, can be in charge of our military? (especially in the middle of a war?) I mean when was the last time you heard of someone not even working for a company becoming the CEO with nothing on their resume to warrant an interview, much less a job?!

I think "we the people" should receive resumes before we even let them run a single ad!

Or better yet... "we the people" could run an ad in the "help wanted pages" for the opening position and just make sure it read "some experience required".

Just think if experience counted in politics like it does in the regular world... this election would look much different!
